Additional Opportunities Outside the Classroom


Tertulia Spanish Conversation Hour

Throughout the academic year, various professors host a fun-filled, low-stress conversation hour for students of Spanish to practice their skills.

Tertulia is back for Spring 2023! Dr. César Gutiérrez and Dr. Lauren Miller will host Tertulia on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30pm in Greene 317. The last conversation hour of Spring 2023 will be on April 25.


Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Every semester, students of Spanish are offered the opportunity to attend Spanish students have the opportunity to practice their Spanish, explore the local Hispanic community, and make a difference in the greater Piedmont Triad area via community service partnerships. Contact the Spanish Community Engagement Liaison, Dr. Lauren Miller, to learn more. 


Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society

As the largest foreign-language honor society in the world, the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society allows its members access to exclusive study abroad awards, research grants, and more. The WFU chapter engages students in their study of Spanish even further.
