March 19, 2025
Benson University Center room 409 | 3:00-4:00pm
Anna Cushman is a Supervising Attorney within Legal Aid of North Carolina’s IMMPAV Project. Before arriving at Legal Aid of NC in 2019, she worked at a small immigration law firm in Greensboro, NC for six years. Anna obtained her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Wake Forest University and her J.D. from Campbell Law School. She’s a Board-Certified Specialist in Immigration Law.
In her lecture, Anna will be talking about her work at Legal Aid of NC and the ways in which she collaborates with other professionals (health care providers, social workers, and more) to create what she calls “ecosystems of care” to help Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other crimes. Anna has served the Spanish-speaking migrant community for years and will be sharing her experiences and knowledge about the importance of collaboration among professions for a common cause.
This event is sponsored by the Department of Spanish, the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department, the Women’s Center, the Department of Sociology, and the Humanities Institute.
