Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Boston Woolfolk received his BA from the University of Virginia and his MA and PhD in Spanish, with a minor concentration in Second Language Acquisition, from Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on the intersections and representations of racial and gender identities in Latin American literature, with a focus on the African Diaspora in Latin America. Additional research interests include analyzing the intersections of race, food, and metaphors of consumption. More recently, he is increasingly interested in the use of supernatural tropes and monstrous imagery in speculative fiction and horror films in the examination of how racial and gender anxieties are expressed in the modern world.
