Rosana Hernández (Ph.D., Boston University) is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish at Wake Forest University. Her research focuses on Latin American contemporary literature, in particular on the study of documentary narratives in connection with ongoing debates about the role of literature and the cultural critic in the 21st century. She is also interested in cultural representations of extractivism and its social, political, and environmental impacts in Latin America. Rosana has taught Spanish language courses, from introductory to advanced levels, as well as writing seminars for first-year students. She earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish Philology, Communication, and Political Science from the Universidad de Salamanca, and her Master’s degree in Hispanic Language and Literatures from Boston University. Before starting her Ph.D., she worked as a journalist and was a research fellow at the Observatorio of the Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures in the US in the Instituto Cervantes at Harvard University.
